The last thing you want to do when you start looking for a new office chair is buy one without sitting in it. Different bodies require different sizes of chair and different levels of support, and a test run is a necessity. Make sure any computer office chair you buy is fully adjustable. Your feet should be flat on the floor and your arms horizontal with the desk top.

If you have an aching back, you might need a computer office chair with better lumbar support. Look for a chair that curves in at your lower back and has comfortably positioned arm rests. Many chairs have an additional lumbar support adjustment; make sure you know how to operate this important feature.
A fabric chair is more comfortable than a plastic one. Make sure your chair has enough padding to be comfortable and isn't hard. Leather office chairs are more expensive but have many benefits: long life, comfort and an attractive look and feel.
Don't forget your office guests. Comfortable computer arm chairs or even a couch are good options, and if you regularly see clients, make sure you have a place for them to sit in your office space or home office.
