I ordered this to complete my study which is in a rather small room in our house. I had read the reviews that were all good so I did not expect a broken down package that required hours of assembly. What came was a very well-crated secretary desk that was attractive cherry and perfectly intact with no tools required. The delivery guys stripped away the packing, took it away and brought it into the house. In 30 minutes, the residue of foam was vacuumed (by me) and the desk ready to use. All as advertised. The only draw back is the annoying follow-up e-mail but I do expect to order bookshelves from them as this experience was good and I can always filter out the e-mails. Nicely done.

Very satisfied with this desk. The color is not as pictured, it is darker with a reddish tint. Exactly what I was looking for. It is made very well, with smooth drawer slides. No assembly required. Arrived well packed, just opened the box, removed the foam and placed it where I wanted it to go. I would definately recommend this desk to anyone with a small space.

Checked it out at two other Furniture Stores. No comparison for the quality Whalen furniture is. Delivery was faster than promised.

This desk is just what I needed. We recently remodeled the kitchen and I lost the desk area. I already had other "office items" in various places because I was working from home, then doing charity work. Amazing that I fit in everything, including my laptop, in this small desk. (We are setting up a wireless printer in my husband's office on the same floor.)
The only surprise was the color...the picture online was much lighter looking, which would have matched the cabinets in the kitchen better. The darker cherry color does coordinate with my dining room, so it's OK, but I would have sent it back if I was counting on the color in the online picture...perhaps you should post another picture???

Service and delivery comments:

This was our second delivery. The first desk was damaged at the base. We cancelled and reordered via customer service. The original charge was reversed promptly and the new desk went out promptly.
The second delivery person was a little unprofessional. He left a message (caller ID did not identify the shipper) and said to call back (and did not leave a phone#) When I called back the number on my phone's display, I got a recording from a Rocky movie...he also didn't have a cutter with him to open the box. We obviously wanted to inspect the piece since the first one was damaged.

This is a great desk. The exterior is very attractive and it is very well constructed. I am using it in a small space off of my kitchen where I needed a desk to help keep personal info on file, hide my laptop, use for personal correspondence, and better organize my recipes, coupons, etc. Even though it is compact in appearance it has a full file drawer, plenty of storage space for my cookbooks, and all of my writing supplies. However, when it is closed all is hidden! The,medium cherry color is rich looking and goes well with my cherry kitchen cabinets. I can find no negatives in this purchase and would highly recommend it for great use in limited space. My husband appreciated that it came fully assembled.
